Blackout!
Our power went out on Friday at about 12:30 AM. We lay in bed with the blinds open, looking out at the 520 bridge and Bellevue's nicer lake side neighborhoods. With the bridge closed and the hills dark, no signs of life were visible. The storm raged on. Lightning and exploding transformers provided the excitement. Waves were washing over the bridge deck, as revealed by construction crews' worklights.
It's Saturday now and power is still out in Madison Park, Washington Park, Madrona and Madison Valley. A huge tree came down near Broadmoor and brought down some substantial looking power lines. A couple of poles were snapped in two. With Madison Avenue blocked at 36th, the only outlet from our neighborhood is down side streets past the mansions of Washington Park, several of which were hit by trees that came down during the storm.
It's fucking freezing. No power = no heat. But we have been snuggling a lot. Which is so nice. The cat is doing all right and so are we. This morning, we showered at the gym (ran into a few other coworkers doing the same) and now we've hoofed it to Vivace for too much coffee and a dose of wifi.
No prognosis for when our power will be back on. We did see a crew working on Madison this morning, a good fucking thing! In the meantime, we will enjoy our "adventure". Nickolas says it's a bit like camping at home. I say its bullshit.

Sorry chica. At least you have each other to keep warm. I would say go to the malls, but this time of year that's even more insane.

i agree with the bullshit, at least with camping outdoors you can have an open fire.
well i guess you could in a house, only if you had a fireplace, but then you could without a fireplace, but it wouldn't work as well
i used to do visiting nursing and one apartment i went to they never turned on their heat but kept their stove on all day with the oven door open
